This Landstown backyard in Virginia Beach was built around one goal: hosting. A large pergola shades the main gathering area so parties can keep going through a hot afternoon or a passing shower, and a fully covered cooking station means the grill stays in use no matter the forecast. A built-in high-top table gives guests somewhere to eat and mingle without dragging out extra furniture every time, and a fire pit ringed in warm Edison bulb lighting keeps the evening going long after the pool closes for the night. A custom-built gate closes off the crawl space under the deck, keeping pool equipment and storage out of sight without blocking access. Every piece was planned around how this family actually entertains, not just how the space would look in photos.
