Fencing does double duty: it gives you privacy and it sets the tone for your whole yard. We build privacy, picket and decorative fencing to match your home's style, using materials chosen for how they hold up in Tidewater's salt air, humidity and storms, not just how they look in a showroom.
Before we start, we walk the property line with you to talk through height, gate placement, and how the fence will read from the street and from your own yard.
The goal is a fence that still looks straight and solid years after installation, not just on the day we finish.
We work in wood, vinyl and aluminum, and the right material usually comes down to how much privacy you want and how much upkeep you're willing to take on. Wood gives you flexibility on height and style but needs periodic staining or painting to hold up to Tidewater humidity; vinyl and aluminum trade a little of that flexibility for decades of low-maintenance performance. Gate hardware, post spacing and setting depth all get sized to the fence type and your soil conditions, not a generic catalog spec. If your neighborhood has HOA guidelines on fence height or style, we work within them from the design stage rather than building something that has to be redone later.
We have built full backyard fences in neighborhoods like the Lawsons Cove area near Cypress Point and Landstown, working around the sandy, higher-water-table soil common closer to the oceanfront. A permit is only required if the fence sits within 30 feet of a public right-of-way, with a $61 fee and height limits of 6 feet on interior lines and 4 feet near streets. Norfolk work has taken us through Ghent, Larchmont, Colonial Place, Freemason, Riverview and East Beach, and each neighborhood has its own lot sizes, HOA rules and tree cover to plan around. A permit is only required once a fence goes over 6 feet, and anything in a Historic District like Colonial Place needs a Certificate of Appropriateness first.
