A wrap-around deck project.
This Riverview deck in Norfolk was designed to wrap around the house, giving the family easy access to the yard from multiple directions instead of funneling everyone through a single set of stairs. PVC decking handles the coastal humidity and daily foot traffic without warping or fading, and white vinyl railing keeps the sightlines open while requiring no painting or staining, ever. LED lighting built into the stair treads lights the path after dark and adds a subtle glow along the whole run, making the deck just as usable for an evening outside as it is during the day. The wrap-around layout turned what could have been a simple rectangular deck into a space that connects naturally to the whole backyard. It's a good example of how one design decision can change how an entire deck functions day to day.
