Every home needs a place to relax. This modern-day oasis is it.

The goal for this Colonial Place project was simple: build a backyard that feels like a private retreat, not just an extension of the house. A built-in hot tub anchors the space, framed by a pergola that adds shade and structure without closing off the view. Outdoor curtains soften the whole deck and add privacy on demand, whether that means blocking a neighbor's sightline or just creating a cozier feel for an evening soak. PVC decking was the obvious material choice here — a hot tub means regular splashing and standing moisture, and PVC shrugs off both without warping, staining or rotting the way wood eventually would. The result reads more like a small resort than a backyard deck.
A built-in hot tub turns the deck into a private spa, ready to soak in any time of year.
A pergola frames the space and adds shade and structure without closing it in.
Outdoor curtains add privacy and a soft, resort feel, and can be drawn back whenever you want full sun.
Low-maintenance PVC decking holds up to moisture and hot tub splash without warping, cracking or fading.
