An outdoor shower is one of the easiest ways to actually use your yard more: rinsing sand off after the beach, cooling down after yard work, or washing down before getting in the pool without tracking it through the house. We build them as a real part of the outdoor living space, not an afterthought bolted onto the side of the house.
Most outdoor showers we build tie directly into an existing deck, fence or pool area, using the same materials and finish so it reads as one connected space instead of something added on later. Privacy walls are typically cedar, composite or PVC, sized to block sightlines from neighbors and the street without boxing in the space.
Coastal Virginia's humidity and constant wetness make material choice matter even more here than on a regular deck. We use PVC, composite or pressure-treated framing rather than untreated wood, and build in real drainage, gravel, a paver pad or a proper drain tie-in, so water has somewhere to go instead of pooling and rotting the structure from the ground up.
Plumbing is the other half of the decision: some homeowners want cold water only for a quick rinse, others want a full hot-and-cold setup tied into the house's water line. We handle the structure, framing and finish, and coordinate the plumbing connection with a licensed plumber so you end up with a shower that actually works, not just one that looks good. A bench, hooks, a small shelf for soap and a footwash bowl at the base are common add-ons worth planning for up front rather than fitting in later.
