INTENT
This service is primarily intended to be conceptual in nature and to provide the Client with a visual plan and ideas. It is the Designers intent to provide the Client with a full range of design ideas and to educate them to be able to visualize, make purchase decisions, and be able to install the room on their own.
CLIENT RESPONSIBILITY
The Designer is providing the Client with an idea and a plan. Designer does not make any purchases or oversee any installation of the project. It is solely the responsibility of the Client to make all purchases, install furnishings and decorate their space themselves or with the help of a Contractor if needed.
PAYMENT
Client is required to make payment in full up front. Clients shall inquire about purchases via email. Once Client confirms desired purchase, the Designer will invoice the Client accordingly. Once payment has been made, the Designer will furnish Client with a ‘Client Workbook’ and discuss the next steps to get the project started.
CLIENT WORKBOOK
Once the Client has made the purchase in full for the desired service, the Designer will furnish the Client with a ‘Client Workbook.’ The Client must read through the Workbook to complete all submittals to turn into the Designer. The Designer requests 15 Days from receipt of the ‘Client Workbook’ for Client to submit to the Designer all required items in order for the Designer to be able to start work. No work will begin until the Designer has received Client’s submittals. If the Client has not submitted within 15 Days, the Designer will follow up with the Client and if needed, will allow Client a reasonable amount of time to complete the submittals.
DESIGNER’S LEAD TIME
Projects will be completed one at a time in the order that they are received. Designer will furnish the Client with the ‘Client Workbook’ as soon as payment is made and lead-time-to-start will be disclosed to the Client at that time. Designer will notify the Client as soon as the start date is approaching for the project. Designer makes every effort to complete projects in a reasonable amount of time. One project can generally take 5-20 days to complete depending on package purchased and various factors. The Designer will communicate regularly with the Client to discuss progress status.
REVISIONS
The Designer will complete the design and submit the full package to the Client for review. If Client would like to suggest changes to the design, Client must list all changes they desire to see and the Designer will complete one round of revisions at no extra charge to the Client within reason. (The Designer will not make changes to the entire design at no additional charge, but 2-3 changes are generally acceptable and considered within reason). Client may incur additional charge if a change is presented to the Designer before the design is submitted that affects work that has already been completed and but shall be revised before the completed package is submitted to the Client. Additional revisions after the 2nd submittal has been completed will be an additional $100.00 per revision.
CONTRACTOR PRICING / ESTIMATING COSTS
Client may opt to hire a Contractor to install certain items into the space as they deem necessary. Designer is not responsible for any Contractor pricing, Contractor coordination, overseeing Contractors, or installation of any part of the design presented. Additionally, Designer makes efforts to approximately estimate parts of the project that may require a hired contractor such as a Plumber, Electrician, or Carpenter in an attempt to fit those services into the budget. Designer’s estimates are approximate only. All Contractors will charge differently based on various factors. It is the Client’s responsibility to obtain several Contractor estimates for desired services.
PURCHASE LIST
If a Purchase List is part of the project, the Designer will select most items and link on the Purchase List. Designer may not select every item and may make suggestions or provide Client with a general direction of how to source and purchase certain unselected items themselves (this usually applies to small decor items such as candles, vases, books, and other styling decor, etc). Designer will put forth every effort to source each item as best as possible.
SOURCING
The Designer primarily aims to source furnishings from reputable, trusted, and well known suppliers. Designer aims to source pieces within the Client's budget as best as possible as well within the Clients expectations for furniture quality. All items are sourced from online suppliers. Clients are encouraged to source local furnishings that are similar to what is shown in the design if they wish to shop in their local market.
CUSTOM FURNISHINGS
The Designer does not primarily source or suggest custom furnishings or upholstery unless necessary. The Designer does not order physical samples or swatches but aims to make the best choices with the information provided from the online supplier and photos shown. If the Designer makes a suggestion for a customization, it is the Client’s responsibility to order sample swatches to view in person before making a final purchase. Viewing colors and samples online can be different than what the actual item looks like in person. The Designer will make efforts to educate the client and explain how to make the best choices.
OUT OF STOCK ITEMS
Designer bears no responsibility if a selected item goes out of stock before the Client has a chance to purchase it. If an item goes out of stock after the Designer has delivered the completed package, Client is advised to source a similar item as a replacement. The Designer can be compensated accordingly if the Client wishes to have the Designer source another item in its place. Designer makes every effort to source items that are in stock, readily available, and available for delivery within a reasonable period of time.
KITCHEN & BATH DISCLAIMER
Kitchens & Bathrooms are difficult to design if not assessed in person by the Designer, a Contractor or a Plumber. If the Client is requesting plumbing to be relocated in a Kitchen or Bathroom, the Designer can not guarantee that the plumbing can be moved where desired because of unknown factors such as the position of the bathroom in relation to other rooms in the house, existing plumbing walls, direction of joists and/or roof framing, age of the house, etc, which all are considerable factors in determining whether plumbing can or cannot be moved in a space. The Designer may be willing to provide the Client with a conceptual Floor Plan layout first for the Client to present to a Contractor or Plumber to confirm the possibilities of being able to move plumbing before the Designer completes a full design package. If the Client is requesting a remodel of a Kitchen or Bathroom without moving any plumbing, the Designer is able to execute a design based on existing conditions. Designer is not able to estimate pricing for any Contractor related labor or unforeseen conditions that may arise during construction.
CABINETS & CASEWORK DISCLAIMER
Typically most cabinets must be sourced from a cabinet supplier local to the Client. Cabinetry & built-in casework will be conceptual only and not priced or sourced. Client must source cabinetry through a local supplier and casework shall be discussed with a local Contractor. Designer will provide guidance on what type, color, finish, material, style, size, & function the cabinets should be to create a cohesive design for the space. Client shall take Designers ideas to present to a Contractor or cabinet supplier.
CLIENT DUE DILIGENCE
Client is responsible for doing their own due diligence before making purchases in regards to return policies, delivery fees, taxes, lead times, upcharges for different upholstery, etc. It is advised that the Client take final measurements of their space and proposed furnishings before making any purchases as the Designer is not able to guarantee accurate measurements provided by the Client.
SUPPLIER RETURN POLICIES
The Designer aims to be mindful of selecting online furnishings that have a fair return policy. It is not the goal of the Designer to choose furnishings that are not able to be returned or exchanged. All companies have their own individual return policies and may vary by item. It is typical that companies will not return or exchange furnishings that have been customized and special ordered. It is the Client’s responsibility to ensure that any purchase they are making meets their expectations for returns of exchanges.
